Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) can bring about a range of challenging symptoms, from irregular periods and weight changes to skin issues. While medical treatments are essential for managing the condition, many women also turn to natural remedies for additional support. Traditional Indian herbs, in particular, are known for their ability to balance hormones, reduce inflammation, and manage stress—all critical factors in PCOS.
Dietitian Vidhi Chawla, founder of Fisico Diet and Aesthetic Clinic, explains that ayurvedic herbs can be effective in supporting the body’s natural healing process. “Herbs like ashwagandha and turmeric can be used based on individual needs. They help reduce stress and inflammation, both of which contribute to PCOS symptoms,” she says.
These herbs don’t replace medical treatments but instead serve as valuable complements. According to Chawla, the benefits go beyond physical health. “Adaptogens, like those found in these herbs, help calm the nervous system, which is often overstimulated in women with PCOS. With proper guidance, these herbs can support hormonal balance, improve metabolism, and promote emotional well-being,” she adds.
Incorporating ayurvedic herbs into a PCOS care routine, alongside dietary and lifestyle changes, may provide women with additional relief and support in managing their condition.
