A 33-year-old Nigerian man has shared the emotional pain he’s facing after receiving test results that revealed he may never be able to father a child.
In a private message sent to well-known relationship and mental health advocate Agba John Doe, the man described his devastation upon learning that his sperm cells are nonviable. Agba John Doe posted the anonymous message on his X (formerly Twitter) page to raise awareness about male infertility and its emotional impact.
According to the message, the man recently underwent a medical examination due to concerns about his fertility. The results confirmed that his sperm cells are no longer active, leaving him heartbroken and in shock.
“Agba, I’m devastated,” he wrote. “Recently ran a test because of my situation, and the worst is that my sperm cells are completely dead. By October 1st, I’ll be 34, no kids, and my sperm cells are dead. Agba, I love kids, and now I can’t have mine.”
He also spoke about the intense societal and family pressure to get married and start a family. This pressure, he said, has only added to his emotional distress.
“What will be my excuse when the pressure from family to get married comes? What will I tell them?” he wrote. “I’m depressed, and confused, and I cry whenever that result flashes… Sir, I don’t want to believe that it is finished. Please, is there any solution to my situation right now?”
His message has sparked conversations online about male infertility, a topic often overlooked in public discourse. Many social media users expressed support for the man and urged greater awareness and compassion regarding male reproductive health.
